Is WIX Filters an American Company?

WIX Filters is an American brand that has been around for more than 80 years. It has 16,000 different products and 210 million filters are produced every year. The company has been providing filters for passenger cars and heavy machinery and equipment for decades, and its quality is excellent due to its experienced staff, modern production lines, and constant quality control. Maintaining the highest standards has made WIX Filters one of the most popular brands in the world.

O'Reilly Auto Parts, based in Springfield, MO, partners with Mann+Hummel, specifically Wix and Purolater, to produce its MicroGard brand of oil filters. O'Reilly also works with Premium Guard and STP to make its select MicroGard oil filters. The standard MicroGard oil filter (not MicroGard Select) is manufactured by US-based Wix and Purolater oil filter factories. Walmart used to partner with Wix, but now produces its own line of oil filters through Champion Laboratories.

With Champion Labs' manufacturing facilities in South Carolina and Illinois, Supertech oil filters are 100% made in the USA. Champ Labs is part of the First Brands Group. MANN AND HUMMEL is the manufacturer of Wix oil filters. From the beginning, MANN AND HUMMEL has been manufacturing filters for Wix. We found some Wix products locally with labels made in the USA.

They supply private brands, such as NAPA and CARQUEST, and are an official NASCAR Performance product. Wix has U. S. plants in Gastonia, North Carolina and Dillon, South Carolina as well as several foreign countries, including China. When World War II broke out, Stuttgart-based piston producer Mahle offered the engine filters to the textile company, an offer that laid the foundation for the company to be MANN AND HUMMEL. Some MicroGard Select oil filters can be manufactured in the United States, but there is evidence that many do not.

I suggest you go for Mobil 1, FRAM, Bosch or K&N oil filters if you want to look for other options. Because WIX is owned by the Mann+Hummell filter conglomerate, many of the WIX oil filters are not manufactured in the United States. Purolater, owned by Mann+Hummel, manufactures its oil filters at its main manufacturing plant in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It's worth noting that Champ Labs has a manufacturing facility in Shanghai, China, with evidence that some oil filters are manufactured there. Motorcraft, headquartered in Dearborn, MI and an official parts supplier to Ford Motor Co., partners with Purolater to manufacture its oil filters. FRAM has seven lines of oil filters in its line, including its iconic Extra Guard up to its FRAM Titanium oil filter. The WIX-Filters portfolio includes fuel, oil, air and cabin air filters as well as air dryers, coolant hydraulic oil and urea filters all of which are further promoted with a series of complementary products. Royal Purple headquartered in Porter Texas partners with Champion Laboratories to manufacture its oil filters.
